Workshop - IDENTiTY
How to perceive people without prejudice
Students from both classes participated in an interactive workshop titled "IDENTiTY," prepared for them by instructors from the Integration Centre Prague. The main objective of this event was to teach students how to work critically with information regarding foreigners living in the Czech Republic and to demonstrate how easily human thinking can be influenced by deeply rooted stereotypes and prejudice.
A card game full of real-life situations
The program kicked off with an introductory lecture on key concepts related to integration, followed by a practical session. The instructors divided the students into groups to play a special card game. In this game, students stepped into the shoes of specific people and experienced firsthand what it is like to face prejudice or deal with both everyday and challenging situations—ranging from social topics to purely legislative matters such as processing visas and permanent residence permits.
Facts and myths
The workshop concluded with a joint reflection. Together with the instructors, the students analyzed the most common myths and facts about migration and examined the practical obligations imposed on foreigners by Czech law. Thanks to the combination of a gaming experience and real-life insights from integration practice, the students walked away not only with plenty of new information but, above all, with a great opportunity to test their critical thinking skills.
