Green Day 2. 6. 2026

Unique Facilities for Teaching and Wellbeing

Few grammar schools can boast such a large and inspiring green space. Thanks to the fact that the grammar school is located on the premises of the Michael School, students have an exceptional space at their disposal in the form of a large garden. This plot of land represents a huge benefit for everyday student life – it serves as a key place for relaxation, mental rest, and the overall wellbeing of students between classes.

However, the garden also requires continuous care. This year's Green Day themed day was therefore not about theory in the classrooms, but about taking responsibility for the environment that daily helps us clear our heads and feel good at school.

A Morning in Black Gloves

Both first-year classes actively participated in the organized event and gradually took turns on the extensive grounds. The students had a rather physically demanding morning ahead of them, focused on a general clean-up and revitalization.

Old weeds, wildly overgrown grass, moss, and piles of trash – in short, everything that does not belong in healthy greenery – disappeared from the garden. The freshmen thus tried out in practice what the real maintenance of a functional ecosystem entails, and that behind every cultivated place lies a piece of honest human work.

An Experience That Can Be Seen

This active program showed ecology and sustainability in its simplest and most meaningful form. Instead of textbook phrases, the school bet on real activity that had an immediate and visible impact on the surroundings.

For the grammar school students, it was a rather unusual experience that allowed them to step out of their daily school routine and, to some extent, their comfort zone. Moreover, the demanding morning worked great as a natural teambuilding activity, where it was necessary for the whole class to pull together as one team to achieve the goal.

A Well-Deserved Reward

After a job well done came a well-deserved reward in the form of a joint barbecue. The informal gathering right in the freshly cleaned garden concluded a day that had a clear and tangible meaning for the entire community of the grammar school and high school.

The students verified firsthand that respect for the environment begins with caring for our immediate surroundings – and that the results of a joint effort stand out best in a relaxed atmosphere around the fire.
