BanalFatal! Seminar
Preventive Seminar
This morning (January 26th) at Grammar School MICHAEL, the topic was the fine line between normal adrenaline and lifelong consequences. Students participated in a preventive seminar of the BanalFatal! program, which, under the auspices of the Czech Paraplegic Association (CZEPA), draws attention to the risks of spinal cord injuries.

From banality to fatality

The name of the program was not chosen by chance. It is based on the contrast between a banal situation and its fatal consequences. The seminar debunked one of the most common myths: that serious spinal cord injuries only affect professional stuntmen or extreme athletes. Unfortunately, the reality is much simpler—permanent damage to health often occurs during ordinary leisure activities, which we tend to underestimate.
Authenticity instead of numbers
Instead of dry statistics and theoretical lessons, our students were given an interactive meeting based on real stories. The aim of the lecturers was not to discourage students from sports or exercise, but to teach them to recognize the fine line where healthy courage turns into gambling. It is this ability to foresee the consequences that is the key to ensuring that leisure activities remain a joy and do not end in tragedy.
We believe that the students took away ideas that will translate into a more responsible approach to themselves and their surroundings. As a Grammar School Michael with a very positive attitude towards sports, we perceive prevention and health care as a very important part of every individual.
